Bread and roses
How do you recognise a good bakery in Paris ? By the pride of the artisan bakers ( le Boulanger) who boldly puts his name on not just his storefront but even on his « baguette ». Such is the case at the Pichard bakery in the XVth arrondissement. And if you want to look like a true Parisian, you will never ask for a simple « baguette », but for a Pichard « une Pichard, s’il vous plaît ». My best bread in Paris’s XVth arrondissement is definitely Pichard, with a special tribute to their « pain de seigle aux figues » ( rye bread with figs), delicious and indispensable for foie gras!

Au nom de la Rose, is a florist franchise specialising in roses, which you will find in almost all arrondissements of Paris. They are not cheap but their bouquets are top quality and very delicate. My favourite roses are definitely the perfumed Roses, Yves Piaget. You can also buy rose petals by the bag that I use to decorate my dinner table. The florists are open until 8pm. And you can send flowers everywhere in France.
